Hi,
I have a GenICam compliant camera here, which I’m meant to develop a driver for to make it working in our software stack. In the past I already did this for GigE cameras, using their manufacturers APIs. Now that I became aware of Aravis, I’m very much in favor of using it. Open source is always an advantage and it might even enable as to end up with one driver for all cameras in use here.
The big issue is, that this very camera I’m dealing with now, is not connected using Ethernet or USB, but PCIe. We are talking about a Ximea xiX. I have to confess that I never really dug into the internals of GenICam and how everything works together there. Therefor my question: Do you think it’s realistic to make this combination working?
In the release notes for version 0.9 I stumbled across the experimental GenICam consumer. Could this already be the solution? Or would I need to come up with another Device subclass? I would be well willing to develop that, though my C++ is a bit rusty and the amount of time I could put into this is limited (rather weeks than months).
I would be very thankful for a hint which way to go.
